Jack Kent Cooke Event Planning

In highschool, I was awarded the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarships, which in my opinion is one of (if not the) best scholarship someone could win. For those who qualify, the scholarship provides many benefits, including alumni connections, community building, and more.

This blog details some of these events.

This Friday is the 25th Anniversary of the Jack Kent Cooke Program and I am helping plan the Boston Celebration. There are currently around 240 students and alumni from the Jack Kent Cooke Program in the area, and all were invited to the event.

Initially, we were hoping to get around 1/4 of the members andd decided on going to Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steakhouse in the area. After RSVPs came in, however, we are now at an expected 92 guests. I received a lot of helping in finding potential restaurants within our budgeting constraints, but have since picked up communications with the restaurant. There's not too much left to do. Emails have been sent out, we just need to go to the event and eat. I'm planning on eating LOTS of Picaña.

Update: The event went super super well. We ended up having around 80 guests and I was glad for the opportunity to connect with a wide group of people. I ended up eating a lot of Picaña. It was so so good. I'm looking forward to some more events in the future. Hopefully in the spring :).

Original Post (October 8 2025) - Recap of Past Events

Last year, I planned a few events for local members of the Jack Kent Cooke community. The first was an Acai/Boba outing, where 10 of us went out to get Boba and Acai and upperclassmen were able to share advice to younger students. The second activity was a volunteer event, with 4 of us (it's so much harder to get people to show up for volunteer work) helping out at the Red Cross Food Pantry and then ordering Panda Express and enjoying a meal together after the fact.

Both events were amazing, letting me connect with members on campus that I may not have met otherwise, and allowing us to come together to help out at the Red Cross.
